When I Pray...

Ok, folks, this might sound a tad presumptuous to all of you, but I want to share with you some of my favorite prayers, prayers that bring me solace, understanding, and purpose during the Liturgy, or in times of solitude.  Some of the prayers are in Spanish, others, in English, because when I pray, I pray mostly in either one of those languages.  Each language brings with it a different "texture" to the prayer, and each one enables me to participate in the Catholic spirituality of two great peoples and cultures.

Of course, many of these prayers are itself translations from the Latin or Greek, perhaps even Slavonic, and most importantly, when I say these prayers, I unite myself with the holy men and women who prayed them in the first place.  Suddenly, I am alive in the great Mystical Body of Christ, past, present, and future, joined with Christ in intercession before the Father and in the Holy Spirit, asking for the transformation and salvation of the world.  Periodically, I'll be adding links to many of my favorite prayers.

Cuando rezo...

Amigos, tal vez lo encuentren algo presumido, pero quiero compartir con Uds. algunas de mis oraciones favoritas, rezos que me brindan consuelo, entendimiento y propósito sea durante la Santa Misa, o durante tiempos fuertes. Algunas de estas oraciones son en español, otras en inglés porque cuando rezo lo hago en una de esas dos lenguas.  Cada lengua me brinda una "textura" diferente y cada cual me habilita participar de la espiritualidad católica de dos grandes pueblos y culturas.

De hecho, muchas de estas oraciones son de por sí traducciones del latín o del griego o hasta del slavónico.  Lo más importante es que cuando rezo estas preces, me uno a los santos y santas que las compusieron.  De este modo, me vivifico en el gran Cuerpo Místico de Cristo pasado, presente y futuro, unido junto a Cristo en intercesión ante el Padre en el Espíritu Santo, rogando por la transformación y salvación del mundo.
